I’m a film composer, originally from Oklahoma and currently living in Los Angeles with my fiancĂ©e and giant bear-dog. I studied music composition at the University of Oklahoma, and received my Masters degree in Screen Scoring from the University of Southern California. Currently, I do freelance composing for various projects, as well as freelance assisting, orchestrating, and technical work. I also regularly assist two composers.
I wanted to start this blog as a way to organize my thoughts about the films I see, as well as have an excuse to watch even more movies without feeling guilty about it! Ideally, writing for this blog will act as a continuing self-education about classic cinema and different aspects of filmmaking. As it evolves, I may include posts about other topics relating to film and/or music, or really anything else that interests me. Everything is fair game!
Because I’m a recent graduate living in Los Angeles, unfortunately I won’t always be able to write about new films being released. The majority of my posts will be about classic films and old favorites! Sometimes I’ll be watching the movie for the first time, but other times I hope to write about films near and dear to my heart, that I’ve watched who-knows-how-many times.
Please feel free to reach out to me! Share your thoughts and ideas in the comment sections or in a message to me. Let me know if you have some insight or cool facts about a film that I haven’t written about and maybe don’t know. And most importantly of all – suggest films for me to talk about!
I hope you enjoy and find something interesting about this blog! And if you do (shameless plug), go check out my professional website through the link at the top of the page!
